The Museo Sorolla occupies the building that was the home and studio of the artist Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida (Valencia, 1863 - Cercedilla, 1923). It is one of the best preserved artist’s homes in the whole of Europe and houses many of his masterpieces: splendid paintings full of colour that powerfully evoke the joie de vivre and intense light of the Mediterranean.

The original decoration of the home has been preserved almost intact, with the furniture and decorations that Sorolla chose himself and which were part of his everyday life. And the garden, designed by Sorolla, is a beautiful oasis in the centre of the city. The two form a unique space that provides an insight into the Valencian painter’s creative intimacy and the essence of the era in which he lived.
